Brenda Hernandez

Professor Socioeconomics & History of Mexico

Brenda earned her B.A. in Law from the University of Guadalajara, México, which followed with a Masters in Education from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional. She has taught Social Sciences and the Humanities some 10 years, and is the Harkness Institute's most fervent advocate of direct student involvement in social service activities.

In her own words, “Learning beyond the classroom by direct student involvement adds real meaning to what the students are studying because they are direct witnesses to the end result." Correspondingly, students under her care are consistently involved in ongoing long-term service projects as well as short-term activities, which she candidly admits are truly rewarding to be involved in, especially when they are student-derived objectives.
